The DJI Avata 2, a refined version of the beloved first-person view (FPV) drone, has been introduced alongside the latest DJI Goggles 3 and DJI RC Motion 3. These new releases are designed to notably amplify the drone’s maneuverability and control.

In essence, an FPV drone offers users the unique ability to perceive the drone’s surroundings in real-time, akin to being directly aboard the aircraft. This captivating experience is made possible through a live video stream relayed from the drone’s camera to a display, commonly goggles or a monitor.

While the original Avata earned praise for its user-friendly plug-and-play flying experience, the Avata 2 raises the bar. It enables more intricate maneuvers, boasts enhanced image quality, and offers extended flight time.

DJI touts the Avata 2 with an impressive 23-minute flight duration, a significant upgrade from its predecessor’s 18 minutes. Additionally, the drone’s video feed can be accessed from up to 13km away, providing an expansive view of the surroundings.

To bolster its visual capabilities, the Avata 2 incorporates a larger 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, ensuring superior image quality, particularly in low-light conditions. Equipped with a wide-angle lens offering a 155-degree field of view, it can capture 4K HDR footage at 60fps. Alternatively, users have the option to record 120fps slow-motion videos in 2.7K resolution.

The DJI Goggles 3 introduces a passthrough picture-in-picture mode, enabling users to maintain awareness of their surroundings while piloting the drone. Alongside improved video transmission and reduced latency, these goggles can now directly stream footage to a smartphone. Their battery life has been extended to three hours, up from the previous two-hour duration.

Similarly, the DJI RC Motion 3 controller has undergone a redesign, becoming lighter and more compact compared to its predecessor. It offers intuitive controls, allowing users to execute flips, rolls, and drifts effortlessly with a simple flick of the control stick. Both the updated goggles and controller are compatible with DJI Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro drones.
